Carlos J. Rodriguez has more than two decades of hospitality development, management and finance experience. Following a brief career as a Wall Street securities trader and investment banker, Rodriguez joined the hospitality industry. In 1997, he founded Cardel Hotels, a group of affiliated hotel management, ownership and development companies based in Miami, Florida. By 2001, he had built a solid portfolio of award-winning full and limited-service hotels and resorts in Florida and Latin America as well as other real estate ventures in office, retail and land development. In 2003, Rodriguez became Executive Vice President of Real Estate Acquisitions/Development for Driftwood Hospitality Management where he has contributed to the company’s growth and success by more than doubling its portfolio of hotels and resorts under management and ownership. Rodriguez holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a BS in Economics from Vanderbilt University. Rodriguez also serves as a Founding Director of Bank of Coral Gables.

David Buddemeyer founded Driftwood Hospitality Management in 1999 with a few domestic hotels and a tour operation to Grand Bahama Island. Today, the company has grown to 41 hotels with more than 7,700 rooms located in major resort destinations and top business travel and convention markets in the U.S., Bahamas and Costa Rica. Buddemeyer was the former Chairman and CEO of Servico Hotels and Resorts, a NYSE hotel company. During his tenure, Servico grew from 28 hotels to 150 hotels with more than 28,000 rooms. He left the company with several of his key executives to start Driftwood Hospitality Management. Prior to his success at Servico, Buddemeyer was Vice President of Operations for Prime Hospitality.

Stephen A. Blumenthal, a highly successful Miami real estate developer and broker, is one of the founding principals of the Pan American Companies, a full scope real estate development company with emphasis on land economics. Some of the company’s most recent projects include Doral Concourse, Commerce Park of Coral Springs, Merrick Plaza, Pan American Business Park, 150 Alhambra Plaza, Pan American West Park and a variety of hotels that he helped to develop as a board member of Cardel Hotels. Prior to his success at Pan American, Blumenthal served as president of another full service real estate brokerage transacting business with several major life insurance companies (Metropolitan Life, Prudential Life, New York Life), pension fund advisors, endowment funds, as well as several developers resulting in the sale and/or joint ventures of more than $1 billion of commercial properties.
